Rhizomatous Begonias
Rhizomatous Begonia is a group of species and cultivars of the genus Begonia with succulent rhizomes on the soil surface. Size, colour and shape of the leaves are extremely variable among species and cultivars.
The following are some examples;
Begonia hemsleyana
place of origin; China
B. mariannensis
place of origin; West Indies
B. sp.
place of origin; near Kunming, Yunnan, China
B. handelii
place of origin; northern Vietnam
B. heracleifolia
place of origin; Mexico
B. sp. "Cuc Phuong"
place of origin; Cuc Phuong National Park, Ninh Binh, northern Vietnam
B. deliciosa
.....and many more. They have colourful flowers but the flowers are complemented by the leaves that have various shapes and colouration.
